I think even when you have a seed that is a word it is converted into number form (not sure how though, I assume some sort of algorithm or function, too complicated for a non computer genius like me). Doch aller technischen Errungenschaften zum Trotz ist das geschriebene Wort nicht zu ersetzen. Die Übermittlungsform der Informationen ist vielfältig: Neben dem traditionellen Brief existieren E-Mail, Faxe und SMS. Die handgeschriebene Nachricht ist im formellen Informationsaustausch kaum noch existent. Natürlich hat sie in Form von Notizen oder persönlichen Aufzeichnungen weiterhin große Bedeutung, doch wurde sie von den oben aufgeführten Formen in vielen Bereichen überholt. Um Informationen „auf das Papier" zu bringen, werden Schreibgeräte benötigt. Einige sind mit dem Medium untrennbar verbunden. Der Kugelschreiber, Federhalter oder Bleistift werden mit Papier assoziiert, ebenso wie das Handy mit der populären SMS. Im Computer sind Werkzeug und Medium in perfekter Weise kombiniert, die Möglichkeiten nahezu nicht limitiert. Gang der Untersuchung: Das Thema ist aus der Beobachtung entstanden, daß neue, sich entwickelnde Techniken jeglicher Art begeisterte Fürsprecher ebenso auf den Plan rufen wie strikte Gegner; ihre noch unbekannten Entwicklungen und Auswirkungen sprechen offenbar beider Phantasien an. Im Falle der Computer, die heute eine nicht mehr wegzudenkende Selbstverständlichkeit sind, an der sich die Gemüter kaum mehr erhitzen, ist diese oft stark ideologie- und vorurteilsgeleitete Debatte noch nicht lange her: Zunächst waren sie nur für einige Forscher interessant, nicht zuletzt wegen ihrer technischen Aufwendigkeit und Unzuverlässigkeit (Tausende von Röhren brauchten viel Platz, Energie und permanente Wartung). Erst in den 70er und 80er Jahren wurde eine Anwendung in nennenswertem Umfang und für unterschiedlichste Anforderungen interessant. Eine noch nicht etablierte Technik erlaubt viele Erwartungen; in dieser Arbeit wird an einigen Themen gezeigt, welcher Art diese Erwartungen im Falle der Computer waren, und in weichem Maße Fehleinschätzungen auftraten. Verwendete Literatur dabei sind Sachbücher, aber auch Artikel aus Zeitungen und Zeitschriften, die die damalige Tagespolitik unmittelbar widerspiegeln. Zunächst werden die Argumente verschiedener Positionen für die stark vom zunehmenden Computereinsatz betroffenen Gebiete Bildung und Arbeitswelt referiert. Das dritte Thema ist die Künstliche Intelligenz, die seit Beginn der Computerentwicklung die Forscher beschäftigt., Die Ziele, wie sie zu erreichen sei, mußten immer niedriger gesteckt werden, immer kompliziertere Theorien wurden entwickelt, eine endgültige Lösung steht jedoch nach wie vor au Stärker noch als ein beispielsweise in der Buchhaltung eingesetzter Computer war die Künstliche Intelligenz damit auch dazu geeignet, als vermeintliche Konkurrenz zum Menschen massive Ängste auszulösen.
